Rape is one of the worst things that can happen to a human being. And now the the legal proceedings to get the justice the victims deserve often becomes a mess and the victim will be left with further humiliation and anxiety. Here I think that just happened. According to a news report from Canada, a federal judge is now under review of conduct after asking a couple of very controversial questions to a rape victim.

The case involved the alleged rape of a 19-year-old woman by a Calgary man, whom she accused of sexually assaulting her over a bathroom sink during a house party. The review comes after four law professors at Dalhousie University and the University of Calgary filed a complaint which described the judge as as “dismissive, if not contemptuous” toward sexual assault laws and the rules of evidence.

Here are the questions he asked the victim according to the 11 page complaint filed by the professors.

“Why couldn’t you just keep your knees together?”

“Why didn’t you just sink your bottom down into the basin so he couldn’t penetrate you?”

According to the professors these events “undermine public confidence in the fair administration of justice.” The Federal Court issued a statement regarding this and the said judge is “fully co-operating” with the review, also he will not be assigned any new cases related to sexual conduct.
